Our first tea towels with Hanna Konola

Hanna Konola is one of my favorite Finnish artist. Her work is so playful, sensitive and always brings back the childhood innocence.

I had the pleasure to work with her for the first tea towel collection for my new venture - Suvi Ainoa. I have not been that happy for a long time when the postman knocked at my door today. When I hold that package I felt like Christmas.

Hanna did two pieces for us, one is named: Heppa (that is a lovely way to call 'horse' in Finnish), another one is named: Mokki (that is Finnish word for their cottage) I really like those towels, we hand sewn and screen printed them here in California. Reuben our printer did such a wonderful job using his eco-friendly printing method. I am working on setting up the webshop, hopefully in May/June we could have it ready.

Landon is mummy's fan, no, I should say he is Hanna's fan. He woke up from his nap, saw the towels, amazed and kept saying: '哇,马,驾驾!' (Wow, pony!)

p.s We are heading to China tonight.  Wish all my dear blog friends a wonderful Spring! See you in May.

Flower

Landon went for a walk with daddy, he came back with a flower in his little hand. He said to me: 妈妈, 一朵花 ,给你。(Mama, one flower, for you)

Daddy said he has been saying this ever since he picked the flower by himself.

Crib blanket/Play mat

I made a few crib blanket/baby's play mats as samples. Landon seems really like them. He keeps saying: Bei Bei( blanket)! And even went under it to pose for me

Everyone ever in the world

'Everyone ever in the world' is a visual representation of the number of people to have lived versus been killed in wars, massacres and genocide during the recorded history of humankind.

I admire such simplistic graphic approach to such a complex topic.
